Boeing: 291 commercial aircraft delivered so far this year

Boeing maintains its pace with a total of 291 commercial aircraft delivered since the start of 2024. In the third quarter, the American aircraft manufacturer delivered 116 devicesincluding a significant number of 225 MAX models. August saw the delivery of 40 units, despite a slight slowdown due to strike action. This figure reflects a steady pace, although still behind rival Airbus, which continues to lead the sector. Order figures remain positive, despite some cancellations, and the industry is closely monitoring these dynamics, which are also impacting airlines such as Ryanair.

The American manufacturer Boeing recently announced that it had delivered an impressive total of 291 commercial aircraft in the first nine months of 2024. This figure, while indicative of a significant upturn on previous years, still remains below pre-strike levels that disrupted its operations.

Third-quarter performance

In the third quarter of the year alone, Boeing delivered 116 commercial aircraft. This delivery volume testifies to the company's ongoing efforts to overcome industrial and logistical obstacles, ensuring constant production.

Despite the challenges, the head of Boeing's commercial division praised his teams' efforts to step up deliveries in September, a month which saw 33 aircraft take to the skies despite some downtime due to strikes.

The most popular models

Among the devices delivered, the Boeing 787the Dreamliner, stands out from the crowd. Since its launch in 2007, this long-haul aircraft continues to win over airlines with its efficiency and passenger comfort.

At the same time, the 737 MAX, despite the concerns of some companies such as Ryanair on possible delaysremains one of the pillars of Boeing's commercial range, accounting for a large proportion of the 116 aircraft delivered during the quarter.

Intense competition

While Boeing strives to optimize its operations, its European rival, Airbusunderlines its dominant position with impressive figures. By 2023, Airbus sent 70 new aircraft to the skies in July alone, and delivered 735 commercial aircraft for the year.

Boeing is therefore in a dynamic race to catch up with Airbus, which has managed to maintain its lead despite a 50 % contraction in net income in the first half of 2023.

The challenges ahead

Although Boeing's deliveries are showing an upward trend, the company is not immune to challenges. Issues such as late deliveries pose significant economic threats for some of its customers. These include Lufthansa could lose 500 million euros a year due to these setbacks.

However, Boeing seems resolutely forward-looking, seeking to adjust its forecasts and optimize its production processes to remain competitive in the global aerospace market.
