As in most countries around the world, foreigners wishing to travel to Oman require a visa. Oman's borders are constantly monitored by the authorities to prevent illegal immigrants or travellers who are not in order from entering the country. So before you pack your bags for your trip to Oman, don't forget to get your visa. In this article, we'll show you all the different types of e-Visa Oman and how to get them.
Express visa
This type of visa is mainly intended for businessmen. Granted by the Consulate of the Sultanate of Oman, this visa is valid for 21 days from the date of entry into Oman and cannot be renewed under any circumstances. To obtain it, you need two passport-size photographs, a copy of your valid passport, a duplicate of the membership certificate, accompanied by a copy of the valid trade register, a duplicate of the specimen signatures of the authorized signatories issued, the approval of the relevant authorities regarding certain professions and a letter informing the purpose of the applicant's visit to the Sultanate.
Business visa
For those wishing to invest in the country, a business visa is required. The visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, and is renewable for 2 years. To obtain the visa, you need the green light from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The documents required are the same as for the express visa, with a few exceptions such as the medical certificate required for certain nationalities.
Visitor visa for family and friends
A foreigner may visit the country at the request of a family member or friend who is an Omani national. The visa is valid for six months from the date of entry, for a maximum stay of 3 consecutive months, renewable for a further month. The documentation required to obtain the visa is the same as for other visas, except that a copy of the foreign resident's passport is required, together with a letter of undertaking from the guarantor declaring that he/she is responsible for the visitor during his/her stay, and mentioning his/her relationship with the visitor.
There are also other visas, such as tourist visas, official visit visas and multiple-entry visas. The tourist visa is one of the most widely used for visiting the country. It is valid for one month from the date of entry. However, you can extend your stay by a further month by applying for an extension. The tourist visa costs 99 euros.
