Corsica is one of France's favorite destinations. Every summer, almost 3 million people cross the Mediterranean to the Isle of Beauty. And every year the same question arises: should you go to Corsica by plane or by boat?

Here are a few tips to help you choose the solution best suited to your needs.

Plane or ferry to Corsica, what's the best solution?

There's no right answer to this question, because every case is different.
Flying is a much quicker way to reach your vacation destination than by boat, while traveling by ferry guarantees greater autonomy on site, with your car accompanying you.

Flying to Corsica

Corsica has 4 airports, perfectly located at 4 key points on the island.
Thanks to a large number of summer connections, Corsica can be reached from all French airports and all major European cities in less than 2 hours!

The biggest advantage of air travel is the ease with which you can get to Corsica from the comfort of your own home, in a very short time!

This time-saving feature is essential if your stay is short (1 week or less) or if you're planning a weekend away.

Families traveling with young children will also prefer to fly, again for greater convenience and less time spent in transit.

Ferry to Corsica

For go to Corsica by boatThe first step is to reach one of the ports of departure, i.e. Marseille or Toulon in France, or the Italian ports. For some of you, this means crossing the whole of France to the south-east coast. You'll need to take this into account when planning your Corsican vacation.

The great advantage of ferries to Corsica is that you can take your vehicle on board and disembark it the next day on the sunny shores of the Isle of Beauty. This means you don't have to rent a car on the spot.
You can also take along everything you need for your vacation, such as camping essentials, water sports equipment and bicycles for exploring the island's paths.

Last but not least, spending a night on board adds a highly original touch to your vacation, giving it the air of a cruise ship.

On the downside, of course, it's the time involved in this kind of organization that puts the brakes on even the most impatient.

Going to Corsica by boat is particularly interesting for stays of more than 10 to 15 days.

Plane or boat, what's the cheapest solution?

Here again, there's no perfect answer. If you're traveling alone, air travel should be the most economical solution.
With a family, there's a good chance the boat will be less expensive.

But you'll need to add cabin hire on the ferries or car hire at the airport if you arrive by plane.
Don't forget to calculate the cost of driving to the southern ports against the price of parking at the airport. You'll find more information and a full comparison on this specialized site www.corsicamore.fr

Low-cost and promotional?

As elsewhere in Europe, low-cost airlines exist in Corsica. Depending on the dates you choose and when you book, you can get really low fares to fly to Corsica.
This is not the case with sea crossings, even if the companies regularly offer special deals. To save on boat fares, travel on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, the least booked days.
