If you are a French national who wishes to visit Australia for purposes other than work, but for a short period of time, you can use an Australian eVisitor to enter their territory and stay there legally. This is an electronic travel authorization that allows easy entry into the country without the need for a visa. So, for your vacations and tourist stays, this authorization is surely the easiest document to apply for. But how does the Australian eVisitor work?

EVisitor: What is it and how does it work?

Australia's electronic business card, better known as the eVisitor, is a kind of travel authorization allowing citizens of France and most other European countries benefiting from the Visa Waiver Program to enter Australia for vacations, tourism, volunteer work or business conferences.
Also known as the e651, theeVisitor Australia is based on the subclass of travel authorization to which the document belongs. This document accompanies the individual's passport and is required to clear customs at any Australian gateway airport.
With this authorization, you can stay in the country for up to 90 days.

Who is eVisitor designed for?

The Australian travel authorization, the e651, is only valid for certain eligible countries following an agreement with the Australian government. In simple terms, it applies to countries that have benefited from the visa waiver program for tourist stays and vacations of less than 3 months.

To date, the eVisitor is only available to citizens of 35 countries that have signed this agreement. These include France, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, etc.
For other nationals, an appropriate visa is required, depending on the type of stay. This visa can be applied for at the Australian embassy, while the eVisitor can be applied for entirely online, which is why it is so effective.

eVisitor special features

The Australian Travel Permit authorizes French nationals to come to Australia to visit family, to spend time with family or friends, and also to take part in tourist activities.
In fact, it allows you to enter and leave the country as often as you like for up to 12 months with a subclass 651 tourist permit. Under no circumstances, however, should the latter be used as a means of staying in the country for an extended period.
You can't stay in Australia with this type of authorization for more than 90 days. Otherwise, you risk facing sanctions.
