Discover Guadeloupe: a new direct service from Toronto

Visit Guadeloupe further opens up to the North American market with the launch of a direct seasonal service by Air Canada between Toronto and Pointe-à-Pitre. This weekly flight, operating every Saturday from December 20, 2025 to April 11, 2026, coincides with the Caribbean's peak tourist season. This new air route reflects Guadeloupe's desire to target a higher-contribution clientele, while strengthening its links with Canada, now a priority market for the archipelago.

An air bridge between Canada and the Pearl of the Caribbean

Since December 20, 2025, the international airport Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) is directly linked to the airport Guadeloupe Maryse Condé (PTP) with a weekly flight operated by Air Canada. This service, scheduled for the 2025-2026 winter period, will run until April 11, 2026. The inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing 737-8 MAX a 166-seat, two-class aircraft, was fully booked, a sign of the Canadian market's keen interest in Guadeloupe as a destination.

Alain Bièvre, Chairman of the Board of SAGPC SA, emphasized the importance of this new link: " Guadeloupe Maryse Condé airport welcomed the inaugural flight of this new service to Toronto on Saturday December 20." . Valérie Samuel-Cesarus, President of the CTIG, added: " The inauguration of this new service has been eagerly awaited, and represents the culmination of two years of close collaboration between Guadeloupe Maryse Condé Airport and Air Canada, aimed at strengthening the human, cultural and commercial links between Canada and the islands of Guadeloupe." . The Toronto hub, Canada's largest airport, offers numerous connections to the USA and opens new doors to the archipelago.

Air Canada strengthens its Caribbean winter offer

The Toronto-Pointe-à-Pitre route is part of a wider drive to strengthen Air Canada's winter network to Latin America and the Caribbean. The airline has announced 13 new routes for winter 2025-2026, including Pointe-à-Pitre and Fort-de-France. Flights from Toronto will also serve Rio de Janeiro, Lima, Cartagena, Guadalajara and Huatulco. Other key Caribbean destinations such as Saint-Martin, Nassau and Montego Bay will benefit from increased capacity.

A stronger presence for Canadian companies

This Canadian dynamic is not limited to Air Canada. As of February 18, 2026, Air Transat will launch a weekly non-stop service between Quebec City (Jean-Lesage, YQB) and Pointe-à-Pitre. This is a first for Quebec City airport, and will add to the airline's direct flights between Montreal and Pointe-à-Pitre, strengthening tourist flows between French-speaking Canada and Guadeloupe.

Guadeloupe, an attractive destination for Canadians

For the CTIG, these announcements confirm the attractiveness of the Canadian market for Guadeloupe, already underway in 2024. Rodrigue Solitude, General Manager of the CTIG, emphasized the importance of promotion: " The opening of this route is just the first step for the islands of Guadeloupe, and the CTIG will now have to step up its promotional activities to ensure that this new service is not only sustainable, but also that it becomes more seasonal." .

To support the launch of the Toronto-Pointe-à-Pitre route, in 2025 the CTIG deployed an aggressive marketing campaign targeting Ontario customers. The plan combines TV campaigns, street marketing operations, digital campaigns, press and influencer events, as well as promotional tours of travel agencies. The challenge is to position Guadeloupe in the face of very active Caribbean competition on the Canadian market, where destinations such as the Dominican Republic and Cuba already enjoy a strong reputation. With its idyllic landscapes, rich culture and magnificent beaches, Guadeloupe has everything to appeal to North American travellers in search of escape and discovery.
