Royal Jordanian strengthens its presence in Germany with the reopening of the Amman-Munich route

El-Adjim Baddani·

Royal Jordanian on March 27, 2026, re-launched its direct service between Amman and Munich, reinforcing its offer on the German market. This new service, operated three times a week, marks a significant return for the Jordanian airline to this strategic air corridor. It aims to reposition Amman as a major connecting hub between Europe, the Gulf and Asia.

The national airline of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, member of the alliance Oneworld, has resumed non-stop service between Munich and Amman. This route, which has been interrupted since 2020, is back in the flight schedule for service throughout the year. The event was marked by an official ceremony at Munich airport, underlining the importance of this reconnection for tourism and trade.

A stronger offering with modern equipment

The Munich-Amman route is now operated three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight time is around four hours, offering a direct travel alternative between Bavaria and the Jordanian capital. For this route, Royal Jordanian is deploying a Airbus A320neo of the latest generation. This modern aircraft is appreciated for its energy efficiency and comfort, including a renovated cabin and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The use of this new-generation single-aisle aircraft optimizes operating costs while guaranteeing a high level of comfort, in line with the standards expected by business and leisure customers. The aircraft's configuration, which can include a business class or be entirely economy class depending on the aircraft, offers flexibility adapted to different market segments.

Amman, a hub for connections to over 60 destinations

In addition to point-to-point traffic, Royal Jordanian emphasizes Amman's role as a hub for connecting flights. The airline's network serves over 60 destinations, including the Gulf, North Africa and Asia. This strategy enables Royal Jordanian to attract a large number of transit customers from Germany, with destinations such as Riyadh, Dubai, Cairo and Bangkok.

As a member of the Oneworld, Royal Jordanian benefits from strengthened cooperation with its partner airlines. This means more flight combinations and improved connecting facilities for travellers. Members of the frequent flyer program can also collect and use their miles within the Oneworld network, making the Munich-Amman route even more attractive.

Jordan, a popular destination for the German market

The reopening of the route to Munich is part of a renewed interest in Jordan as a tourist destination. Iconic sites such as Petra, the desert of Wadi Rum or the Dead Sea are attracting more and more visitors. The promotional efforts of Jordan's tourism authorities and the company have helped build an image of a safe and accessible country, offering a blend of historical heritage, desert landscapes and wellness offerings.

According to Karim Makhlouf, Royal Jordanian's Sales Director, this expansion is a key milestone. He emphasizes that repositioning Jordan as a trendy destination for the German market is at the heart of RJ's growth strategy. The company's growing presence in Germany, with increased frequencies to Berlin and Düsseldorf and the return of Munich, should enable it to better supply the Amman hub and promote the tourism program. exploRJordan.

Royal Jordanian's European expansion

The reintegration of Munich into the Royal Jordanian network is part of a wider strategy of post-pandemic European expansion. The airline has opened or strengthened more than a dozen destinations on the continent over the past three years. Germany is particularly targeted, with increased frequencies to Berlin and Düsseldorf from the summer 2026 season.

Munich thus becomes the fourth German point connected to the Amman hub, alongside Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Berlin. This densification of the air network in a market considered strategic for both tourism and business travel, positions Bavaria as a major gateway to southern Germany, Austria and parts of Central Europe.
