The evolution of airport infrastructure
Initially seen as obsolete by the 2020s, the fate of Cotonou-Cadjèhoun International Airport was uncertain. A decision had been taken: a new international airport complex was to be built on the outskirts of the large industrial area, 45 km from the heart of Cotonou, in the direction of Glo-Djigbé, to accommodate the growing influx of travellers.
Strategic adjustments
Despite initial plans, various obstacles have forced a readjustment of plans for the expansion and development of Benin's aviation infrastructure. As a result, the current airport is benefiting from an ambitious renovation program that should transform the user experience and reinforce Cotonou's position as a significant regional hub for air traffic.
