Transavia recently announced its expansion at Marseille airport, opening new routes to Cairo and adding a third aircraft for the 2025 summer season. This announcement marks an important step in the airline's development in the region, offering more travel options to passengers in search of exotic new destinations.
My name is Emeline, I'm 44 and I'm a flight attendant in retraining. Today, I'd like to tell you about Transavia's recent announcement that it is expanding its service from Marseille-Provence airport. This major event marks a new stage in the airline's development.
A strategic base in Marseille
Transavia, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, established its base in Marseille in 2022. Since then, the company has continued to grow and diversify its destinations. This summer's success, with increased capacity and an impressive load factor of 82%, bears witness to this. This momentum continues with the announcement of new destinations and the strengthening of the fleet.
Algiers and Cairo: New Destinations
From October 21, 2024, Transavia will offer five weekly flights to Algiers, subject to approval by the national authorities. This new destination completes a varied offer which already includes flights to Beirut, Brest, Nantes, Tunis, Dubai and Dakar for the winter season.
Summer 2025 will see the opening of service to Cairo. This new route, operated every Saturday from April 5, 2024, will further enrich Transavia's network from Marseille. Transavia will be the only airline to offer this route to the Egyptian capital.
Fleet reinforcement
As part of its expansion, Transavia will announce the addition of a third aircraft based at Marseille-Provence airport during July and August 2025. This new aircraft will increase seat capacity by 40%, making over 500,000 seats available. This increased capacity will meet the needs of leisure travellers and VRFs (Visiting Friends & Relatives).
Reservations and Opportunities
Travellers can now look forward to their next vacation in Egypt or Algeria with Transavia, while enjoying a reliable and diversified service. Nicolas Henin, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing of Transavia France, promises more surprises to come in November 2024, which could further enrich the departure schedule.
Popular Destinations
Transavia is not content with new destinations. The company continues to operate flights to popular destinations such as Antalya in Turkey, Biarritz, Heraklion in Crete, Yerevan in Armenia, Marrakech in Morocco, Monastir in Tunisia, and Stockholm in Sweden, consolidating its position on various summer routes.
