France-Canary Islands: which airline to choose?

The Canary Islands have many tourist attractions, making them one of the top destinations for the French. To get there, air travel is the quickest and sometimes the least expensive solution. If you're planning a trip to the Canary Islands from France, here are a few airlines to choose from.

Air France

Air France is one of the best choices for vacations in the Canary Islands. Different flights are offered every day to Gran Canaria and Tenerife. However, some Air France flights also take off for islands such as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Note that you have the option of departing from several French cities. In fact, you can fly from Paris, Bordeaux, Nantes or Lyon. Fares vary according to the time of year. In summer, the cost rises to 130 euros, while in December the price drops to around 74 euros. Note that the average flight takes four hours.

EasyJet and Vueling

If you're looking for the airlines offering the most attractive fares for a trip to the Canary Islands, EasyJet and Vueling are the best choices. For a return flight to Tenerife, you can expect to pay around 210 euros. To Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, round-trip fares are around 110, 150 and 240 euros respectively. While Vueling usually offers a special flight from Paris, EasyJet organizes trips from the capital as well as from other cities in the country. These include Bordeaux, Toulouse, Nantes, Nice and Lyon.

Iberia and Air Europa

Iberia is also one of the best choices for visiting the Canary Islands. Flights are available on a daily basis, and even emergency trips for those in need. Most Iberia flights depart from Paris and call at Barcelona or Madrid. You can land in Fuerteventura, Tenerife Norte, Lanzarote, Tenerife or Gran Canaria.

Air Europa flights are also available at all times. Travel to Tenerife is possible from Paris or Nantes. In some cases, the company works in partnership with Air France.

Volotea

This Spanish airline was launched in 2012. It is one of the most affordable airlines to fly to the Canary Islands. You can take off from Strasbourg, Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse and Bordeaux. Destinations include Fuerteventura, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. Once again, fares depend on the time of year you travel. Prices are generally higher in summer.

In addition to these airlines, others such as Transavia France offer flights to the Canary Islands. Depending on your budget, it's up to you to choose the airline that's right for you.
