The airline Air Caraïbes recently announced the suspension of the resumption of direct flights between Paris-Orly and Saint-Martin Juliana. This decision comes after the company had initially planned to reinstate this service as soon as market conditions were more favorable. However, several factors led to this temporary suspension.
New aircraft to strengthen fleet
In anticipation of increased passenger demand, Air Caraïbes will soon include a new Airbus A350 based in Paris as well as two new ATR72s based at Pointe-à-Pitre. These additions will increase the number of seats and flights available, notably to Saint-Martin Grand Case. This strategy aims to optimize connecting times at Pointe-à-Pitre, thus facilitating passenger travel.
Current market context
The suspension of flights to Saint-Martin Juliana is due in particular to a difficult economic and competitive environment. Since the announcement of the takeover at the end of April, Air Antilles was able to relaunch its own flights, increasing competition for the Dubreuil group company. This complex situation prompted Christine Ourmières-WidenerPresident of Air Caraïbes, to wait before fully relaunching this direct service from Paris-Orly.
