In the ever-changing global aviation landscape, strategic alliances have become an essential pillar for airlines seeking to extend their reach and enhance the customer experience. With this in mind Condora German company renowned for its long-haul routes, and Southwest Airlinesa major player in the U.S. domestic market, have entered into an innovative interline partnership. This collaboration, effective from January 19, 2026, promises to revolutionize transatlantic travel by offering passengers unprecedented connectivity between North America and a multitude of destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, all via the strategic Frankfurt hub.

Enhanced Transatlantic Connectivity

Interline's Simplified Travel Agreement

This interline agreement allows travelers to book their journeys on a single ticket, combining Southwest's domestic flights with Condor's long-haul flights. This new model eliminates the traditional complexities of multiple bookings, offering a more seamless and integrated travel experience. Passengers will benefit from automatic baggage transfer and guaranteed connections, crucial elements for a stress-free journey.

Six strategic gateways to the United States

To facilitate this connection, six U.S. airports will serve as the main entry and exit points: Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle. These cities, already well served by Southwest's domestic network, are now connected to Condor's Frankfurt hub. This strategy enables Condor to significantly strengthen its presence in North America, while offering Southwest a gateway to previously inaccessible international markets.

Mutual Benefit for Both Companies

Condor: Expansion and Access to the U.S. Market

For Condor, this partnership represents a major opportunity to expand its network and increase its customer base. By joining forces with Southwest, the German airline gains access to the huge US domestic network, enabling it to offer its European customers simplified access to cities such as Las Vegas, where Southwest offers over 270 daily departures to more than 70 destinations non-stop. The agreement will also enable Condor customers to easily discover major European cities such as Paris, Rome, Prague, Barcelona, Budapest and Venice, particularly during the summer months.

Southwest: A strategic move upmarket

Southwest Airlines, historically focused on domestic point-to-point flights, has taken a significant strategic step forward. This interline agreement enables the company to expand its international offer without having to operate transatlantic flights directly. This is the company's fifth international cooperation, in line with its drive to move upmarket and enrich the passenger experience.
