Eurowings Winter 2026-2027: Baghdad, Rome and Rovaniemi in the Sights of European Travelers

As airlines refine their strategies for the winter season, Eurowings, the low-cost subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, is making a bold move with an ambitious program for winter 2026-2027. Between new exotic destinations, strengthened existing routes, and an upgraded in-flight experience, the German carrier is positioning itself as a key player for European travelers seeking diversity and comfort. With new additions like Baghdad, Rome, and Rovaniemi, Eurowings isn’t just expanding its network—it’s reinventing the flying experience for an increasingly demanding clientele.
Berlin becomes the hub of the winter network this season, with a total of 38 destinations served. Among the new routes, Baghdad stands out as one of the most notable openings. Starting December 10, 2026, two weekly flights will be offered from Berlin and Düsseldorf, reinforcing Eurowings’ presence in the Middle East. This initiative responds to growing demand for community travel and routes to less-served destinations by major European hubs. For travelers, it means unprecedented options to reach Iraq, a market expanding rapidly for cultural and economic exchanges.
Another flagship destination is Rovaniemi in Finnish Lapland. The airline will launch a seasonal route between Prague and this iconic holiday city starting December 20, 2026. Operating every Sunday until February 21, 2027, this line targets winter stay enthusiasts and snow-covered landscapes. With a departure from Prague at 12:50 and arrival in Rovaniemi at 16:55, travelers can enjoy the Northern Lights and local activities like visiting Santa Claus Village. A golden opportunity for those looking to escape the holiday rush while exploring a lesser-known region.
Expanded Network to the Middle East and Southern Europe
The Middle East remains a strategic focus for Eurowings, with significant reinforcements on several routes. Dubai will see a daily flight from Berlin, while Jeddah and Tel Aviv will see increased frequencies. These routes cater to persistent demand for travel to economic and tourist hubs while offering convenient connections for transit passengers. In Southern Europe, cities like Milan, Lisbon, and Sarajevo join the winter program, confirming Eurowings’ commitment to high-value markets.
The airline isn’t limiting itself to tourist destinations. It’s also targeting cities with economic or cultural significance, such as Cairo, served from Hamburg and Stuttgart, or Erbil, accessible from several German bases. This strategy allows Eurowings to attract a diverse clientele, from business travelers to tourists seeking authenticity. With such a varied offering, the German carrier is positioning itself as an essential player for travel across Europe and beyond.
Premium BIZ Seat: A Premium Upgrade for Discerning Travelers
To stand out on highly competitive routes like Dubai or London-Heathrow, Eurowings is introducing the Premium BIZ Seat on its Airbus A320neo fleet. Available from December 1, 2026, this premium product offers a high-end experience with just eight seats in a 2-2 configuration. Travelers will enjoy ample legroom, reclining seats, a fold-down table, and a USB port, all paired with porcelain dining and a snack. On flights to Dubai, the surcharge starts at €300, while it begins at €60 for London.
This positioning isn’t meant to compete with long-haul business class cabins but rather to offer superior comfort on medium-haul flights. The goal is clear: attract passengers willing to pay more for a distinctive service without opting for a full business class ticket. A bold strategy that could redefine standards for comfort in economy class on European and Middle Eastern routes.
A Winter Season Marked by Innovation and Connectivity
With this winter program, Eurowings confirms its ambition to establish itself as a credible alternative to major airline groups. By focusing on unique destinations, superior comfort, and optimized connectivity, the German carrier meets the expectations of an increasingly diverse clientele. Whether for business travel, a winter getaway, or cultural discovery, travelers now have unprecedented options to explore Europe and the Middle East.
Tickets for these new routes are already available for purchase on Eurowings’ website and app. Another reason to start planning your next trips, especially if targeting destinations like Baghdad, Rome, or Rovaniemi, which promise to be the stars of the 2026-2027 winter season.
